Letter to Kim Jong Un from Participants in Meeting for 5th Int'l Festival in Praise 
of Great Persons
Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un on April 17 received a letter from the participants in a consultative meeting held to successfully ensure the Fifth International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu.

The letter said that Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un, the great leaders of the Korean people, have been deeply revered by all people as the peerlessly great men of Mt Paektu for their feats performed on behalf of the era and history.

The consultative meeting had a depth-going discussion on the matters for ensuring the smooth holding of the international festival to be held this year which marks the 105th birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung, the 75th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il and the 5th anniversary of Kim Jong Un's election to the top posts of the Korean Party and state, it noted, adding:

The 5th International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu to be held in Pyongyang and the area of Mt Paektu in August will fully display the desire and will of the progressive mankind to exalt the great revolutionary careers and feats of the peerlessly great men for all ages.

The situation on the Korean peninsula and its surrounding areas are inching close the brink of a war quite contrary to the will of the Korean people and the peace-loving people of the world due to the hostile forces' steady sanctions and military provocations against the DPRK.

The letter expressed full support to the measures for self-defense taken by the DPRK to preserve the country's sovereignty and dignity, regional peace and security.

It stressed that under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, rosy will be the future of the powerful Paektusan nation envied by the progressive mankind and the cause of global independence in the 21st century will victoriously advance.

Consultative Meeting Held

A consultative meeting was held in Pyongyang on April 17 to successfully ensure the 5th International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu.

Present there were Kim Jong Suk, chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who is chairwoman of the Korean preparatory committee for Gathering 2017-Praise to the Great Persons of Mt Paektu, Ri Chang Gun, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea who is vice-chairman of the Korean preparatory committee, officials concerned and National Leader of the Workers' Party of Mexico Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, Secretary General of the National Executive Council of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party Mostafa Jamal Haider, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the United Socialist Nationalist Party of Nepal Shankarlal Shrestha and personages from international, regional and various countries' preparatory committees for Gathering 2017-Praise to the Great Persons of Mt Paektu, and friendship and solidarity organizations who are visiting the DPRK to mark the Day of the Sun.

Kim Jong Suk in her congratulatory speech at the meeting expressed thanks to all the participants for their sincere efforts and activities to glorify the 5th International Festival as a grand political event.

She hoped that the meeting would contribute to making the festival a splendid and grand international gathering.

Dermot Hudson, co-secretary general of the European regional preparatory committee, appealed to all the world progressive political parties and organizations to proactively contribute to glorifying this year as a year in praise of the great persons of Mt Paektu.

Pak Gyong Il, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and secretary general of the Korean preparatory committee, noted that the work for successful festival is smoothly going on in the DPRK such as the erection of a monument to the great persons of Mt Paektu. He expressed belief that the 5th International Festival would be a grand political event.

Then, an action program was discussed for the successful holding of the festival.

A letter to Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un was adopted at the consultative meeting.
